Back from the mountains

Post  Pocahontas on Tue Dec 23, 2008 10:38 pm

Well we are back for a few days form the mountains. What a Bear season it has been thus far. Treed on Posted land, after dark , in town limits and etc. But we have gotten more than our share considering the weather and snow. It certainlly has been one more season to remember with the cold temps. Will go back Friday for five more days. Merry X-Mas to all and a Happy New Year.

Gene I called while you were out and had a good talk with Ann...She is such a nice woman...I saw your updates to your website and I bet you have more to post later on....I'm off of work from here til the end of the season and I'm looking forward to getting back in the mountains and start catching bear....I've been getting phone calls everyday from buddies to keep me updated and I think it just makes it worse being away from the hunt...Talk to you soon...Perkey

Pocahontas,
I saw that Jim and Lee got em one each. Did you get to see onymore bug eyes from Lee? Laughing
How did everything go. I wish I could have made it a day or two. With the way thing are going I figured I better work all I can while it's there.

Check out the clubs new web site. I'm still tinkering with it. I'm going to fix me one up too, asap.

David ~ Nothing comes up but an error when I try to visit that site. There must be a letter left out or too many in there somewhere. Or a space that shouldn't be or something.

Gene,

How long does your bear season run in West Virginia? Is it easy to get a tag?

Tim; It's usually the month of Dec. 3-4 weeks depending on how things fall. No problem getting a Tag. Your allowed one Bear up north and one down south. This year about all we found were small ones that can runnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn like the wind. We treed several of them, but most were just to small to take. The early snows put the larger ones to bed early this year and does quite often.Which is fine with me. I hunt to see and hear the hounds work. Have no desire to kill anymore.

Thanks Gene. I know what you mean. To me it is listening to the dogs and seeing the fruits of your labor at the top of a tree. Now if I could just train my dogs to tree closer to the road so I don't have to walk so far. When i get it figured out I will patent my training secret and watch the money roll in!!
