Predator Patrol

Post  Gamegetter on Fri Oct 17, 2008 9:11 am

If I'm in the woods with a hound or a bow or a gun, you can consider me happy....Thats my biggest down fall is that I have to many hunting hobbies, but is there really a such thing as...Too Many? I don't think so...My wife does...HaHa...One type of hunting I like to do with my brother is predator hunting in the "off" season's...(when I ain't chasing something) Now this is a type of hunting that I've noticed that on the first couple of nights it will make you or break you...(kinda like bear hunting) The coyotes and foxes and bobcats population is growing and at times it can cause for good times or very long nights...When we hunt these predators we usually hunt at night and we use a red light and a small caliber high power rifle like a 22-250 or .243 and usually take a shotgun for the close in counters...Not every night you'll get to shoot but at lease for us we'll get to hear a pack of yotes or see a fox or cat seeking in for a better look...We use a digital FoxPro call and mouth calls like I said some nights are longer than others...Her's a pic from one night that turned out good for us...This is a 45lb male a took one night while hunting near a dairy farm...Perkey

Let me know and I'll go that direction and make me a few dollars..lol...If its like the other counties around you have to be a resident to collect a bounty...Most I've heard is $100 and thats in Bath county....Perkey
